Trump 2024 Debate Showdown

In the race to the 2024 Republican nomination

Former U.S. President Donald Trump's potential rivals for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination are running out of time, according to party strategists.

The second debate involving seven Republican candidates is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute in Simi Valley, California.

These candidates are competing to become the Republican nominee to challenge presumptive Democratic Party nominee President Joe Biden in the 2024 election.

Notably, Trump is not participating in this debate, similar to the first one in Wisconsin last month.

With less than four months until the Iowa caucuses, considered the first Republican nominating contest, Trump's rivals face a tight deadline to gain ground.

The debate is seen as crucial for one of the candidates to make a case that they can challenge Trump's lead, especially in early voting states like Iowa.

This debate offers a rare chance for candidates to make an impression on a national audience, including voters in pivotal early nominating states.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, once seen as a strong contender, faces a "make-or-break" moment for his candidacy in this debate.

Despite legal challenges, Trump maintains a significant lead in opinion polls.

With Trump absent, some analysts see the debate as potentially lacking stakes, as the frontrunner isn't participating. Topics will cover immigration, inflation, crime, and foreign policy.
